Into The West
Lay down,
your sweet and weary head.
Night is falling.
You have come to journey’s end.
Sleep now, and dream
of the ones who came before.
They are calling,
from across a distant shore.
Why do you weep?
What are these tears upon your face?
Soon you will see.
All of your fears will pass away.
Safe in my arms,
you’re only sleeping.
What can you see,
on the horizon?
Why do the white gulls call?
Across the sea,
a pale moon rises.
The ships have come,
to carry you home.
And all will turn,
to silver glass.
A light on the water.
All souls pass.
Hope fades,
Into the world of night.
Through shadows falling,
Out of memory and time.
Don’t say,
We have come now to the end.
White shores are calling.
You and I will meet again.
And you’ll be here in my arms,
Just sleeping.
What can you see,
on the horizon?
Why do the white gulls call?
Across the sea,
a pale moon rises.
The ships have come,
to carry you home.
And all will turn,
to silver glass.
A light on the water.
Grey ships pass
Into the West.

Sandy - I was very touched by your tribute to your Honey - I know what you are going through - we lost our Gina in 2008. Your poem and music were beautiful - and that photo of Honey enjoying her jog on the beach - priceless! What a wonderful snapshot of the happy life she led for many years.... now your Dad will get to be her companion and I'm sure they are both smiling!
Oh Sami, this brought tears to my eyes as I lost our sweet Spike, who looked like your precious Honey, a few months ago. I bet they are playing together and sharing memories about their two loved Mamas.
Love you! Linders
Oh Sam! This is just heartbreaking! I know how you feel and hope that the loss will soften in time. Lots of love, Ginny

Oh Sam...my heart is breaking for you and your family right now! I'm so sorry! I just know that Honey and your Dad are running and playing together on that distant shore....and smiling!
Big hugs,

Popping in to say hello & wish you a lovely weekend.
Chris :-)
I'm sorry for your loss.
How fortunate that you made each other so happy.
Sam, so very sorry to read this sad post. I too know how it feels to lose a beloved pet. Your tribute to your Honey brought tears to my eyes, the song is a tear jerker also. I believe we will all see our beloved pets and the people who have gone before us....at the rainbow bridge.
hugs to you,
may your heart heal,
Jane
What a lovely picture you gave when you said Honey was resting on your dad's lap. Blessings to you sweet gal. I think Capt. Tippy's personality is enough for two pets - don't ya think? Love and Healing thoughts, Katie
Sandy....This made me sob. I am so sorry. He'll be waiting for you.
